Silence by Choice or Insanity?

From the moment he arrived in Nova Scotia, everyone around Jerome, along with dozens of journalists from around the world and hundreds of tourists, came to see him and ask him questions. As you have observed in the Aftermath section, many people tried to get Jerome to talk, but without success. He wouldn’t answer them. Why this silence? Was he dumb? Did he stay silent because he was afraid? Was he suffering from mental illness?
