Flanagan Family

In 1874 the Flanagans bought John Hawkshaw’s stage business. They partnered with Crawley. Rivals to the Donnellys’ stage business, the Flanagans’ stages, stables and horses were destroyed on more than one occasion. Their drivers were also involved in many altercations with the Donnellys. In the end, the Donnellys were accused of arson of Flanagan’s property, but they were acquitted. In 1875 Flanagan decided to give up the stage business, but Crawley continued. The Flanagans sold their half of the business to Richard Bryant.
