Canadian Pacific Railway Telegram Regarding Explosion

CANADIAN PACIFIC RAILWAY COMPANY RAILWAY TELEGRAM

J.McMillan, General Manager of Telegraphs.

At 7.20 Am, Oct 29. Phone message from Mr. Griffith, Chief Clerk, C.P.R. Nelson To the efect that an explosion had taken place on the Kettle Valley Train near Farron early this morning five passengers killed and thirteen injured. 2 died in car at Nelson notified Mr. MacKenzie, Coroner, also phoned S/Srgt Fraser Dunwood, who stated he was going to Grand Forks and catch freight out of here. bodies had been moved by Standard [illegible] 9.50 a.m. Special train ordered by Doukhobors left for Farron for body of Peter Verigin upon arrival met with Kingston Coroner and Const. [Killeny?]. decided body of Peter Verigin should be taken to Grand Forks with others for inquest. S/sgt Fraser arived on frieght and returned to Grand Forks with bodies.

Searching round scene of unrest. day coach was burnt except steel frame tracks etc. portion of clothing, grips, and coach were found 300 ft away.
