Execution of the Indians

The British Colonist
May 24, 1863

During the night the platform and drop destined to enact so fearful a part this morning, were in the course of erection in front of the Police Barracks. The precise hour at which the sentence upon the unhappy culprits is to be carried into effect has not transpired. We presume it will be at the earliest possible moment after six o'clock. A considerable number of Cowichan Indians have come down to witness the painful closing scene. The old woman Thask, we learn, has been reprieved by His Excellency.
