"From Bentinck Arm"

The Daily Press, June 22, 1862

The sloop Northern Light arrived from Bentinck Arm on Friday afternoon. She brings later news from this locality. It seems that small-pox has occasioned a terrible mortality among the Indians at Fort Rupert. Fully 75 per cent of the Hydahs that left Victoria are said to have perished by the same disease. When the schooner left Nanaimo, the surveying steamer Hecate and gunboat Forward were both in port.
