Armour, Justice John D.

[ Justice John Douglas Armour, Photograph source:  George Wilkie et al. Born in Upper Canada in 1830, Justice Armour was appointed to the Court of Queen’s Bench of Ontario in 1877. Armour refused to move the venue of the trial of James Carroll. Justice Armour also presided over the first trial of James Carroll in 1880. His charge to the jury stressed that Carroll should likely be found guilty, but the jury could not reach a verdict. Armour died in 1903.
