My dear Sir,

re Donnelly

[...] our jury list for 1880 contains only 96 names, & the jury list for next preceding year, viz 1879, 414 names. But it is contended & to be admitted, that under the 68thsec. a may enlarge the name to any extent, & what any number of jurors may be required to attend. Our only chance of a fair trial will be to have a very large number summoned under the 68th sec. for the trial of these issues.

[...] I think there is no use in Armstrong [detective employed by Irving] or anyone going to Biddulph. The township is guarded every where; no stranger can enter without being spotted. If we find out anything new, it will come thro' Wm. Donnelly, who is constantly on the watch -- or spontaneously, from someone influenced by the hope of participating in the reward. [...]

Always truly yours, Charles Hutchinson
