Mr. Hutchinson Superseded as Prosecutor — West Granted Immunity From Prosecution.

Having heard a rumor that Mr. Charles Hutchison, the County Crown Attorney, had been superseded in his office as County Crown Attorney, so far as the prosecution of William and Robert Donnelly for arson was concerned, our reporter interviewed that gentleman on the subject. In reply to a question, Mr. Hutchinson stated that finding he could not without embarrassment perform his duties as County Crown Attorney in the prosecution of the Donnellys, and his sympathies being rather with the prisoners than with the prosecution in the case, he had deemed it judicious to inform the Attorney-General of the fact, and ask that some other gentlemen be appointed to conduct the prosecution. The Attorney-General, doubtless appreciating the motives which prompted the desire, gratified it by appointing Mr. Idington, of Stratford, County Crown Attorney of Perth, to conduct the prosecution before the County Judge on Tuesday next.[...]
