13th Appeared Louis Langlois dit traversy aged thirty-three years, Tenant farmer residing On the farmstead of deceased Sieur de francheville at Coste St Michel in the Service of the dame widow of said deceased Sieur de francheville [...]

Deposed [...] That eight to Nine days after the said Negress Had Been Brought back with the salt contrabander [salt smuggler] who had been residing at the Home of the said deceased Sieur de francheville, When They Had Set forth On Foot to flee to New england last winter, he who Deposes, Being in the Kitchen of the said widow francheville where Was the said Negress And having Said to her, “And so here you are you vile Vixen, you will Indeed eat of Those Chickens,” She replied “yes I Will Eat those of Monsieur Beiré.” Whereupon he said to her that she was Evil, that she should Not have Fled as She did, And that if the said dame francheville had wished so, She would have Seen her

in prison, and that If she did not beware the Said dame francheville Would sell Her. She replied to Him “That damned whore, If she Sells Me she will sorely Regret it.” And saying to Her “What will you do?” She Replied to him, “We do not state our Intentions; The Snow Will Melt away, The earth will Show Itself anew And tracks will Not be left behind.” And as all that she addressed to Him above was Enunciated She appeared to do so in a State of Fury. [...] And having requested salary we requited him with forty-Five Sols.
