François Bérey des Essars

Fifty-one years of age, Bérey des Essars occupies the important post of king’s treasurer. When the fire occurred, he lost numerous official documents and money. Married to Françoise Nafrechoux, he is therefore the brother-in-law of Judge Pierre Raimbault, whose second marriage is to Louise Nafrechoux. His house on rue Saint-Paul is adjacent on the west to that of the Franchevilles. The Panis slave, Marie dit Manon, an important witness who plays a decisive role in the trial, is his property.
