Letter from mother Duplessis de Sainte-Hélène, 16 October 1734.

I must tell you something of Canada country of crosses and suffering. The city of Montréal again has been afflicted with fire as it was in seventeen hundred nineteen [sic]. The Hotel Dieu was consumed in this affliction. The negress was executed in Montréal after having taken it upon herself to ask for forgiveness; she died a proper death.
