Appeared Louis Bellefeuille dit la Ruine, aged thirty-eight years, Gardener in the service of the Paupers of the hotel Dieu of This city, presently working at sowing their fields in pointe St Charles, [...]

Deposed [...] that he Knows Nothing Other than to Have seen the Said thibault eating of the supper that Was On the table for the Servants of the paupers, in their Chamber while the fire Was Already at the church

of the hotel Dieu And that, he who Deposes, Descending from the vault of the said Church And seeing him eat Their Supper Told Him of His Surprise to Find him calmly eating their supper in their chamber while the fire Was everywhere. To which, the Said thibault Replied that he was hungry, found Himself Spent, Having not yet eaten That Day, And he who deposes Left him to help in the Salvaging of Effects from the said hospital. That Following the Burning of the hospital, Having retired to the Garden, a man At the service Of Sieur D'Auteuil arrived with a jar of Eau de Vie that was drunk by many persons present. That pierre, hired to Serve in the apothecary, paid for a Bottle of Eau de Vie that, he who Deposes, Fetched, And they All Drank of it,

And offered some to the said Negress Who Gave Them Syrup From a bottle that she pulled from a vat that Was next to her. That, he who Deposes, Said to her that it was Said that it Was She who had set The fire; that she replied to him “You would Think me Quite daft to set Fire to Where we Live.” And that he Again having said that this nevertheless was what was Said, She replied Nothing to him. And that Boudard, And laJeunesse Having come to Say, to he who deposes and to the said Pierre, to Retire to their Chambers, They did so And left the named Giroud, who Was standing close to The sentry, who is Corporal Of The Compagnie de Budemon And who stated that he was On Sentry duty although he did no Guarding; that during The day, He saw the Said thibault And the said Negress who carted Effects that had Been Salvaged, belonging to the said dame francheville
