The Archaeology Work

The archaeological work by the Ingstads took place during the summers 1961 to 1964, 1966 to 1968, and by Parks Canada 1973 to 1976. The excavation season usually began in mid-June and ended in September. There was also a smaller excavation by Parks Canada in 2002. Memorial University of Newfoundland has conducted test excavations outside the actual site area in the village of L’Anse aux Meadows 1973 to 1976 and in 1999.
