Robert Henderson and George Carmack

Robert Henderson and George Carmack are linked by the controversy which has swirled about them almost since the beginning. George Carmack was an experienced American miner, while Henderson, from Nova Scotia, was a veteran of Yukon exploration. Carmack was generally given credit for the discovery at the time, while Henderson’s claim rested on the fact that he was popular Canadian candidate, in an era when people resented the fact that an American was getting the credit.
