During the trial of Klatsassin, Telloot, Piell, Chessus, Tahpit, and Chedekki, Baptist was hired as an interpreter by Judge Begbie to translate between French and Tsilhqot’in. Another interpreter, William H. Fitzgerald, translated between French and English.
