"Small-Pox Among the Indians"

The Daily Press, June 15, 1862

The sloop Hamley returned from the Coast of British Columbia, reports that the Indians are everywhere dying, under the most malignant form of the fell disease. If these poor creatures dispose of their dead in the same way as those at Ogden Point, there will certainly be but a remnant of them living at the close of the summer.
