Inf.: Pis il avait les jambes coupées justement en bas du genou, là. Et pis, on aurait dit que ça avait été coupé avec une hache, tu sais. Parce que tu voyais la coupure toute de même coumme…

C.C.: Il’ auriont comme manqué leur coup!

Inf.: Coumme ça, là, ‘ois-tu. ‘ois-tu, je m’ai coupé, là. Tu ‘ois encore où-ce qu’il avait la marque. Tu ‘oyais coumme un coup, là, en haut coumme si ç’avait été coupé avec un coup de hache. Moi j’crois qu’il s’avait pris les jambes dans une poulie pis que ça y avait coupé les jambes, pis qu’il était plus de bonne dans le bâtiment, pis qu’il’ auriont coupé les jambes, tu sais, pis qu’il’ aviont mis à terre.

C.C.: As though they’d made a mess of it!

Inf.: Like here, you see. You see, I cut myself here. You can still see where he had the mark. You could see like a cut, here, as if they’d been chopped off with an axe. I think he got his legs caught in a pulley and it cut up his legs, and he wasn’t any use on the boat anymore, so they cut his legs off, you know, and then they put him ashore.
