I acknowledge receipt of your estimable letter of last August 31, concerning Marie-Anne Houde Gagnon, a prisoner in the Kingston Penitentiary who is currently serving a sentence of imprisonment for life.

To confirm her statement, I am ready to take her in as soon as she is set free, and I am in a position to provide her with all the necessary and desired care.

If her release rests entirely upon my decision, I repeat that I am ready to receive her as soon as you are able to send her to me.
