THE GAGNON WOMAN IS ACCOUNTABLE

FIVE MEDICAL ALIENISTS YESTERDAY PROVIDED TESTIMONY – CLOSING ADDRESSES AND THE VERDICT TO BE PRONOUNCED TODAY

Quebec City, 21. — (D.N.C.) – Testimonies in the case of the Gagnon woman concluded yesterday afternoon. At the request of the attorneys, Court was adjourned until this morning when pleas were entered and the judge addressed the jury. Following the morning session, it is expected that a verdict will be handed down by early afternoon.

At the session yesterday afternoon, Dr. Brochu, during another cross-examination, again declared the accused to be absolutely sane of mind and responsible for her actions. He believes that the state of insanity would have manifested itself by other symptoms, if indeed this was the case; nothing about her is abnormal other than the cruelty that it has been proven she inflicted on little Aurore Gagnon.

Doctors Marois, Roy, Devlin, and Derome provided the same testimony as Docteur Brochu. The five experts maintain to have never detected in the accused any sign of insanity and declare her responsible for her actions now and at the time of the crimes for which she is being charged.

The trial has gone on for 10 days. It is one of the longest cases to have been pleaded in the Quebec City Assizes.
