Information and Complaint of James Carroll re: John Donnelly Aiding Thomas Donnelly to Escape, 1879

The Information and Complaint of James Carroll constable of the Township Biddulph taken this 9th day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventy nine before me the undersigned, one of Her Majesty's Justices of the Peace, in and for the said County of Middlesex, who saith that John Donnelly of the Township Biddulph did, on the 9th day of October one thousand eight hundred and Seventy nine at Biddulph aforesaid aid and assist one Thomas Donnelly to escapse from being arrested on a Bench Warrant

[...] James Carroll constable Biddulph sworn — Hold a Bench Warrant for the arrest of Thomas Donnelly

Warrant produced — came with my prisoner about 10pm of the Eight day October [...] on the morning of the 9th went in company with constable Hodgins to the house of Mr. Donnelly in Biddulph — got there about 8am Mrs. Donnelly asked what we wanted — we told her that we were looking for Thos Donnelly Searched the house and premises did not find him — [...] saw Thos Donnelly in the field an his father James — John Donnelly was with him [...] Prisoner then started to run towards the stables — I next saw Prisoner came out with a Horse — sorrel in colour — short ears and white face Thos Donnelly came up running to the prisoner where he was standing with the horse — Thos Donnelly got on the horse and rode

away [...].
