My dear Cameron,

re Donnelly

We had a hard fight lasting from 9:30 AM till 12 PM when jury were locked up till Monday, then brought in verdict on 4th count. Judge charged for conviction, & then imposed what appears to me an unfortunately lenient sentence. Under the circumstances a life term would have been abt the right thing, especially as 6 witnesses were got to perjure themselves to prove an alibi. [...]
