Maher Family

[ James Maher, This drawing originally appeared in the 1880 newspaper coverage of the Donnelly murders. It is reprinted in Donald L. Cosens, ed. A native of Ireland, James Maher Sr. allowed James Carroll (his nephew) to live at his home on the Roman Line. James Sr. joined the Vigilance Committee. Both James Jr. and James Sr. were arrested for the murder of the Donnellys, but they were released in February of 1880.
