Casey, William

William Casey, though implicated in the murder of Richard Brimmacombe, was never punished for the crime. Casey became a Justice of the Peace in 1879. He was present when the Vigilance Society searched the Donnelly farm for Thompson’s missing cow, but he claimed he separated from the society after becoming a Justice of the Peace. He was one of the magistrates who oversaw the proceedings for the case of the burning of the Ryder barn, a crime allegedly committed by the Donnellys. Casey testified at the Preliminary Hearing.
