Cameron, Justice Matthew Crooks

[ Justice Matthew Crooks Cameron, Photograph Source: George Wilkie et al, Born in 1822, Justice Cameron served as a judge for the Court of Queen’s Bench. He oversaw the trial of William Lewis, the man charged with killing Michael Donnelly in 1879. A staunch Conservative and Tory politician, Cameron was appointed with Justice Featherstone Osler to preside over the second trial of James Carroll in 1881. His charge to the jury favoured the acquittal of Carroll. Cameron died in 1887.
