CRIMINAL CLERK, OF CRIMINAL, or AT CRIMINAL, is the one who oversees
transcription in matters of criminal affairs. Such clerks were introduced
into the courts only as legal affairs began to multiply, & as it was noted
that one sole clerks did not suffice to handle the proceedings at
both the civil and criminal courts.
The chief clerks for criminal causes at the Parlement is an officer who has the charge of all matters related to the criminal registry, of which he has exemplified copies made by his clerks.
